CBP Set to Complete Transition to Industry-Wide Processing for Three CEEs
The first three Centers of Excellence and Expertise will all be handling post-release trade processing of entry summaries for their respective industries filed at certain ports as of June 29, said CBP in a notice (here). That date marks the end of the third and final transition phase, after which the Petroleum, Natural Gas and Minerals and Pharmaceuticals, Health and Chemicals CEEs will handle processing of industry tariff lines. The Electronics CEE previously finished the transition and is already processing the entry summaries for that industry (see 1504090015).

CBP also posted a list of the ports included in the final phase of the CEEs expansion (here). CBP recently said it plans to similarly expand the other seven CEEs, which are now only handling the processing for volunteers (see 1506080012). "Entry summary filing procedures and document submission processes will remain the same for brokers and importers," said CBP. "CBP will consolidate post-release processing to provide an increased level of uniformity and certainty." CBP began the transition process in January (see 1501210021).
