- New seizure policy for commercial goods in the Courier Low Value Shipment (CLVS) program. The CBSA has released Customs Notice 15-002 which will implement a new seizure policy for undervalued shipments of commercial goods imported through the CLVS. (here)
- Global export workshop for Edmonton small and medium-sized businesses. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast has announced he will host a Go Global export workshop on Jan. 30 in Edmonton Alberta which will provide small and medium-sized businesses information to reach their export goals. - New export requirements for potatoes from PEI. The CFIA has announced it has negotiated an agreement with the United States to prevent the spread of potato wart while providing market access for Canadian potato growers. The new requirements that are to be enforced will be in place for exporting potatoes from PEI to the United States. (here)
- North American Foreign Ministers Meeting in Boston. The Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will join Mexico’s Foreign Affairs Secretary Jose Antonio Meade and the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Boston, MA to attend the North American Foreign Ministers Meeting to discuss security challenges and economic issues in North America. - Product Recalls. Sunbeam recalls Bionaire and Sunbeam brand Oil Filled Heaters manufactured in China (here), Sears Canada Inc. recalls Bean Bag Chairs manufactured in the United States and China (here)
