APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 26

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 26 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections.

Chapter 2-4 Procedures

  • Page 2-4-14 under "Safeguarding Live Animals" heading - language has been added to last paragraph
  • FORMER page 2-4-15 under continued heading "Safeguarding Live Animals" - language has been deleted
  • FORMER Table 2-4-11 Determine Action to Take on Discovered Animals - table has been deleted [NOTE: remaining tables have been renumbered to reflect the deletion]

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following change has been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information. The specific change is listed below.

Chapter 3 Reference

  • Table 3-148 Dried tea, herbal tea, herbal infusions, and other concoctions to be boiled made from OTHER THAN flowers or leaves or with ADMISSIBLE flowers or leaves - language has been changed in the sixth cell of the third column (And:)
