APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 20

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 20 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

State Phytosanitary Programs Manual: The Federally Recognized State Managed Phytosanitary Program Manual (here) has been revised to update Chapter 4 and Appendix D.

  • Chapter 4: Roles and Responsibilities: Pages 4-1, 4-4, and 4-5.
  • Appendix D: OCAP Criteria for Federal Recognition of a State-managed Phytosanitary Program: Pages D-1, D-3 and D-4.

Cut Flowers and Greenery Import Manual: The Cut Flowers and Greenery Import Manual (here) has been updated to do the following:

  • Revise the list of materials needed for inspecting cut flowers and greenery
  • Remove outdated information on fumigating commercial shipments of cut flowers in chambers at PPQ Plant Inspection Stations

Changes, indicated by black change bars in the left page margin, are on page 2-5 in Chapter 2: Procedures.
