APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 4
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 4 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting: The Plants for Planting Manual (here), intermediate edition, has been updated, 08/2014-27, to add information about plants for planting that may prohibited entry as a controlled substance by another U.S. authority's regulations. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:
- Page 2-1: Added controlled substances to contents
- Page 2-31: Added procedures for suspect controlled substances imports of plants for planting
- Page 4-83: Added cross reference from Cannabis sativa to procedures for controlled substances that are plants for planting
- Page 4-343: Added cross reference from Papaver somniferum to procedures for controlled substances that are plants for planting
