DOE Amends Energy Efficiency Standards for Electric Motors

The Energy Department amending its energy conservation standards for commercial and industrial electric motors. In its May 29 final rule, DOE is adding new standards for certain types of definite purpose and special purpose motors that it didn't previously regulate. The agency is also making changes to some existing energy conservation standards for electric motors. Compliance with the new standards is required by June 1, 2016.
