ViXS Asks for Section 337 Import Bans on Allegedly Infringing TV Set-Top Boxes

ViXS Systems on April 17 filed a complaint at the International Trade Commission alleging several companies are importing set-top boxes that infringe its patents, in violation of Section 337. ViXS says Entropic Communications and DirecTV in the U.S., as well as Taiwanese companies Wistron Corporation, Wistron NeWeb Corporation, and Cybertan, are violating Section 337 in connection with ViXS’ patented technologies that allow multiple devices in a household to get cable or satellite TV and access recorded content through a single set-top box. ViXS is asking the ITC to issue limited exclusion orders and cease and desist orders banning import and sale of infringing products.
