APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for April 7

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes April 7 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: Changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. Specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 2-1 Procedures Preparation

  • Table 2-1-3 Container Properties Describing Both Those That ARE and Are NOT Hermetically Sealed and Shelf Stable - typos have been corrected

Chapter 3-2 Avian Products

  • Throughout the chapter - language has been added/corrected to several table footnotes
  • Table 3-2-3 Birds' Nests - table has been completely revised

Chapter 3-3 Bovine Products

  • Table 3-3-2 Bovine Products Locator - (page 1 of 3) footnote reference has been deleted from the first cell in the second column (And is:)

Chapter 3-15 Miscellaneous Products

  • Table 3-15-2 Miscellaneous Biologicals Locator - (page 2 of 2) the third cell in the first column (If the importation is:) language has been changed
  • Table 3-15-4 Micro-Organisms and Their Products - (page 2 of 2) the first cell in the first column (If:) language has been changed

Appendix A Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage or Mail

  • Table A-1-11 Hunted, Wild Game Meat - (page 1 of 2) the first and second cells and the fifth and sixth cells in the fourth column (And is:) language has been deleted; NEW footnote #2 references have been added throughout the third column (And if the meat imported is:)
  • Table A-1-14 Pet Food/Chews/Treats and Livestock Feed in Passenger Bagage or Mail - (page 1 of 2) and (page 2 of 2) the first cell in the first column (If:) language has been changed
