FTC Textile Labeling Changes Take Effect May 5
The Federal Trade Commission’s new textile labeling rules will take effect May 5, according to a notice set to be published in the Federal Register. The FTC released its revised textile labeling regulations in mid-March, but didn’t at the time pin down an effective date (see 14031429). The new regulations update the ISO standard for fiber disclosures, and loosen disclosure requirements for hang tags. The final rule also clarifies definitions for country-of-origin and invoice requirements, and replaces penalty-of-perjury language for false guaranties with certification requirements.
