DOE Sets New Energy Efficiency Standards for External Power Supplies

The Energy Department is setting new energy efficiency standards for some types of external power supplies, in a Feb. 7 final rule. The new standards apply to the following: low- and basic-voltage single-voltage external AC-DC power supplies; low- and basic-voltage single-voltage external AC-AC power supplies; and multiple-voltage external power supplies. The new standards take effect April 11, and compliance is required by Feb. 10, 2016.
