Miami CBP Launching Pilot to Speed Cut Flower Inspection

CBP's Miami Air Cargo office is looking for potential volunteer participants in a pilot program aimed at streamlining the cut flower inspection process, according to a Nov. 21 memo from Rolando Suliveras, port director at Miami International Airport.

He said the voluntary program would "significantly" reduce air carriers' waiting time for document review, and the overall process, for each cut flower inspection. The pilot would include agricultural specialists beginning the document review before the flight arrives, and any pest found being processed immediately instead of waiting until the end of the inspection, the memo said.

Carriers interested in participating in the pilot would have to be able to provide documents electronically, the memo said. They should contact Daniel Cordero at 786-348-7878, it said.
