USTR Requests ITC Report on Impact of TPP Duty-Free Treatment for Japan

The U.S. Trade Representative on April 30 requested an International Trade Commission investigation on the probable economic effect of providing duty-free treatment for imports of products from Japan and the ten other current Trans-Pacific Partnership countries on competitive U.S. industries and consumers. USTR said the report should update the ITC's 2010 and 2011 on the effects of the TPP, given that Japan recently joined the talks (see 13042208). The final report will be confidential, and is due in August 2013.
