ITC Begins Section 337 Patent Investigation of Fluorescent Reflector Lamps
The International Trade Commission voted to begin a Section 337 investigation to determine whether imports of compact fluorescent reflector lamps are infringing patents held by Neptun Light. Neptun requested the investigation Jan. 28, alleging the proposed respondents are importing the infringing products from China. Neptun is requesting cease and desist and limited exclusion orders.

According to the complaint, reflector lamps are used for in-store display lighting, downlights, outdoor lighting, and indoor track lighting, among other things. Neptun’s patent allows reflector lamps to use a more-efficient fluorescent light source by putting the fluorescent light’s electronic ballast system in the reflector housing, the complaint said. The lamp is able to connect to a normal power line.
The ITC named the following as respondents to the investigation:
- Maxlite, Inc., of West Caldwell, N.J.
- Technical Consumer Products, Inc., of Aurora, Ohio
- Satco Products, Inc., of Brentwood, N.Y.
- Litetronics International, Inc., of Alsip, Ill.
