ITC Begins Section 337 Patent Investigation of Ericsson's 4G-LTE Base Stations
The International Trade Commission voted to begin a Section 337 investigation of wireless communications base stations (337-TA-871) to determine if 4G-LTE base stations imported and sold by Ericsson are infringing patents held by Adaptix. The products are used by wireless carriers to build networks. Adaptix is requesting limited exclusion and cease and desist orders.

According to the Jan. 24 complaint, Ericsson manufactures its 6000-series base stations in Estonia, China, India, and Brazil, imports them into the U.S., then sells the base stations to wireless providers in the U.S., including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and MetroPCS. The base stations infringe an Adaptix patent that increases throughput between a base station and mobile-subscriber units, the complaint said.
