APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Feb. 7
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Feb. 7 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual table number below.
Chapter 3-8 Live Animals and Related Material
- Table 3-8-10 Canine (Dog) and Feline (Cat) Materials - bulleted list in the second column (And is:) was corrected; footnote #2 was re-added to the table
Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and Index as well as internal and external cross-references and hyperlinks were updated as necessary.
FAVIR & Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) were revised. There were several reasons for the revision:
- New market access for litchi (lychee), longan, and rambutan from the Philippines. (Docket APHIS-2012-0005, effective February 7, 2013) **NOTE: At this time, import permits will not be issued. Until program phytosanitary requirements are finalized, litchi, longan, and rambutan from the Philippines will not be authorized entry into the U.S.
- New market access for banana from the Philippines (Docket APHIS-2011-0028, effective February 7, 2013)
Treatment Manual: The Treatment Manual (here) was updated. The reason for the update was to add litchi, longan, and rambutan from the Philippines to irradiation schedule T105-a-2 (page 5-2-71).
