Ways and Means Reports FTA Implementing Bills, House Vote Next Step
On October 5, 2011, the House Ways and Means Committee favorably reported the implementing legislation for the free trade agreements with Korea, Colombia, and Panama. According to the Committee, this clears the way for formal consideration of these bills on the House floor.

(While both the KORUS and Panama FTA implementing bills received Committee approval by almost 90%, the Colombia FTA implementing bill faced opposition by most of the Committee Democrats over labor issues.)
Press Says FTA and GSP/MPF/TAA House Vote Expected Next Week
Camp stated that he looks forward to “the quick passage of these trade agreements and the TAA-GSP bill by the House.”
Press reports indicate that the bills are expected to come up for a vote in the House during the week of October 10, 2011. Reports also indicate that the House is expected to take up the GSP/MPF/TAA bill (H.R. 2832) during the same week.
