Senate Scheduled to Vote on Actual GSP/MPF Bill on Sept 22

On September 21, 2011, the Senate continued its consideration of amendments to H.R. 2832, the House-passed bill to reinstate the GSP program retroactive to its expiration date and raise the Merchandise Processing Fee. Additional amendments and the bill itself (as amended) are scheduled to be voted on September 22, 2011.

Senate Defeated Four Amendments on Sept 21

On September 21, 2011, the Senate rejected four trade adjustment assistance-related amendments, including one which would have repealed TAA for firms.

Senate to Vote on Four More Amendments, Bill Itself on Sept 22

On September 22, 2011, the Senate is scheduled to consider and vote on four additional amendments, including the amendment to add the Baucus-Camp compromise on TAA to H.R. 2832 (the version of TAA that is expected to be added to H.R. 2832 and passed). After disposition of the amendments, the Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill itself (as amended). The bill would require 60 affirmative votes to pass.
