Coalition Asks Supporters to Contact Congress on GSP Bill Sept 7 Vote

The Renew GSP Today blog, run by the Coalition for GSP, a group of U.S. companies and associations that benefit from the Generalized System of Preferences program, is calling on GSP supporters to contact their Representatives in support of H.R. 2832, a bill that would extend GSP. H.R. 2832 is scheduled to be voted on by the House of Representatives on September 7, 2011 (evening vote expected).

H.R. 2832 would renew the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program retroactively through July 31, 2013 and would be "paid for" by a 65% increase in the merchandise processing fee (MPF) for formal entries. House passage of H.R. 2832 could lead to movement on Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and the implementing legislation for the pending free trade agreements (Korea, Colombia, and Panama).

Coalition Urges Supporters to Email and Call Representatives Before Today's Vote

To help simplify the process, the Coalition has updated its blog to provide a link to its "Email your Representative" page to include standard language in the email that urges support for H.R. 2832 and informs them of today's vote. According to the Coalition, calls to the offices are also needed. Contact your Representative by clicking here.
