CBP Posts Updated Tipsheet for New Importers & Exporters

U.S. Customs and Border Protection posted a revised tipsheet to assist new importers and exporters. The tipsheet includes information on importer security filing (ISF/10+2) for ocean vessel shipments, quota requirements for certain commodities, required licenses, information available on CBP's website, HTS classification ruling requests from CBP, etc.

CBP states that in order to avoid potential problems in the clearance of merchandise, it strongly recommends new importers and exporters familiarize themselves with CBP policies and procedures prior to actually importing/exporting goods. They should also be aware of any entry requirements specific to the particular commodity they are importing/exporting, including those of other federal agencies.
