an elevated number of microbiological contamination violations, specifically salmonella violations. Importers of Mexican papayas should expect delays in FDA releases for Mexican papayas as CBP increases the rate at which entries are sampled by FDA for microbiological analysis. FDA's guidance also includes means to lessen the surveillance of shipments from growers with repeated non-violative analytical results. FDA will adjust CBP's surveillance guidance based on the results of this increased sampling. (CSMS #11-000174)
