- EU-Japan industrial cooperation. The EU Japan business round table is meeting on April 27-28, where the EU states it wishes to see Japan tackle its non-tariff measures, open its market to Foreign Direct Investments, and its public procurements to EU industry. The meeting will also discuss cooperation regarding access to raw materials, space and innovation policies, and other topics such as business in China, aging populations, and energy policies. (here)
- Eastern-EU border customs cooperation. During a high-level seminar on April 14-15 under the Customs 2013 Program, customs administrators from various EU and EU neighboring countries agreed to focus on three priorities to further customs cooperation on the Eastern border: (1) develop fluid and safe trade lanes, (2) promote risk management and fight against fraud, and (3) invest in customs modernization.
