Coalition Calls on Importers to Join GSP Supporters List

The Renew GSP Today blog, run by Coalition for GSP, a group of U.S. companies and associations that benefit from the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program, is calling on GSP importers to join their supporter list.

Renew GSP is collecting list of company names (with locations) that support GSP renewal that it can post on the website.

They will also include “new supporters” in their regular updates to Congressional staff. (Click here to add your name to their list.)

(GSP for most beneficiary countries (A, A+, and A*), i.e., other than those listed as African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) beneficiary countries, expired on December 31, 2010. According to sources in the trade, the Administration, and Congress, renewal of GSP is more uncertain now than at any time in the last few decades. Experts are stating that the two largest impediments to GSP extension legislation are the new House CUTGO funding requirements and the likelihood of holds (e.g. for sleeping bags) in the Senate.)
