Senate Bill Introduced to Urge Passage of Pending FTAs, Grant Trade Promotion Authority
On January 25, 2011, Senators Portman1 (R) and Lieberman (I) introduced S. 98, the Creating American Jobs through Exports Act of 2011.

According to a press release issued by Portman and Lieberman, S. 98 would:
- call on the Administration and Congress to adopt the pending Free Trade Agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama;
- grant the President trade negotiating authority (also referred to as Trade Promotion Authority (TPA))2; and
- provide the Administration with tools to meet the goals of the National Export Initiative, a plan to double exports in five years.
