Homeland Security Chair Urges Senate Passage of USCG Authorization Bill
On September 28, 2010, the House Homeland Security Committee issued a press release regarding the House passage of legislation reflecting agreement between the House and Senate to authorize the Coast Guard. The Committee Chairman urges the Senate to pass H.R. 3619 as soon as possible.

According to the Committee, H.R. 3619 would provide the Coast Guard with the resources and tools necessary to secure the U.S. maritime environment in a post-9/11 world. This legislation includes strong port security provisions that will enable the Coast Guard to improve and expand its ability to protect the public as well as defend the U.S. maritime border.
