Senate Finance Reschedules 2009 Preference Program Hearing to March 9
The Senate Finance Committee has announced that it will hold a hearing on the options for reforming U.S. Preference Programs on March 9, 2010. Testimony will be heard from four witnesses, including one representing labor.

The Senate Finance Committee had originally scheduled this hearing for November 19, 2009, but subsequently postponed it.
House Ways and Means Held its Preference Reform Hearing in 2009
The House held its own hearing on the future of U.S. preference programs on November 17, 2009.
In addition, The New Partnership for Trade Development Act of 2009 (H.R. 4101) was introduced in the House on November 18, 2009 to modify the Generalized System of Preferences Program and the African Growth and Opportunity Act and create a new preference program. Since its introduction, no further action has been taken on H.R. 4101.
Preference Reform is One of Senate Finance's Priorities, Legislation Expected
In early 2010, sources indicated that trade preference reform is one of the Senate Finance Committee's top priorities for 2010 and that a trade preference reform package is expected to be introduced in the Senate.
