House Moves Ahead, Scheduled to Consider GSP/ATPA Extension Bill This Week

According to the House leadership's weekly schedule, during the week of December 7, 2009, the House is scheduled to consider legislation to extend the Generalized System of Preferences Program (GSP) and the Andean Trade Preference Act/Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPA/ATPDEA) beyond their December 31, 2009 expiration dates. The GSP/ATPA extension bill is scheduled to be introduced by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rangel (D).

Senate Receives NHTSA Administrator Nomination

On December 4, 2009, the Senate received the nomination of David L. Strickland, to be Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Wassenaar Rule Report Received in Senate, Referred to Committee

A communication from the Bureau of Industry and Security, transmitting, pursuant to law, the report of a rule entitled Wassenaar Agreement 2008 Plenary Agreements Implementation: Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Parts I and II, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the Commerce Control List, Definitions, Reports'' was received during adjournment of the Senate on November 24, 2009 and was referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
