2. Cross-Border Maritime Enforcement Agreement Signed by U.S. and Canada
On May 26, 2009, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and the Canadian Minister of Public Safety, toured port operations on both sides of the shared U.S./Canada border and signed an agreement to make Shiprider, joint law enforcement teams stationed along the international maritime border, permanent. The U.S. and Canada also emphasized the importance of managing the shared border in a way that not only strengthens security but also facilitates trade, jobs and economic growth. 3. USTR Speaks About Beef/Pork Exports

4. USDA Announces 2008-2009 Allocations for Dairy Export Incentive Program
U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Vilsack has announced annual export subsidy allocations under its Dairy Export Incentive Program for the July 2008 through June 30, 2009 period of 68,201 metric tons of nonfat dry milk; 21,097 metric tons of butterfat; 3,030 metric tons of various cheeses and 34 metric tons of other dairy products, as well as individual product and country allocations that will be made available through Invitations for Offers. Country and region quantities may be limited by the invitation. These allocations are available for the first time since2004. 5. FDA Announces Expansion of Fun Express Recall of Face Paint
The Food and Drug Administration has posted the release of Fun Express, Inc., which has expanded its May 12, 2009 recall of face paint items manufactured in China to include two additional face paint colors. 6. FMC Issues FY 2010 Budget Estimates and Justifications

7. BIS Recommends Order to Deny Export Privileges for Five Years
The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued notice that it is recommending that an order be issued to deny Micei International's export privileges from the U.S. for a period of five (5) years as well as an assessment of $126,000 in civil penalties due to fourteen (14) violations of the EAR stemming from Micei's knowing participation in seven export transactions using an individual subject to a Denial Order as an employee or agent to negotiate for and/or purchase items in the U.S. for export from the U.S. to Micei in Macedonia. The recommended decision and order is being referred to the Under Secretary for Export Administration for review and final action. 8. BIS Announces Open Meeting of Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee
BIS is announcing that the Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee (ETRAC) will hold an open meeting on June 11 - 12, 2009 in Washington, D.C. 9. BIS Actions Affecting Export Privileges Against Orion Air, Syrian Pearl Airlines, Etc.
BIS has issued a notice announcing that it has issued an Order temporarily denying, for a period of 180 days, the export privileges under the EAR of Orion Air, S.L., of Madrid, Spain, and Syrian Pearl Airlines, of Damascus, Syria due to the re-export by Orion Air of BAE 146-300 aircraft (tail number EC-JVO) to Syrian Pearl Airways without the U.S. Government authorization required by General Order No. 2 of Supplement 1 to Part 736 of the EAR. BIS has also announced that it intends to initiate an administrative proceeding through the issuance of a proposed charging letter against Matthew Ayadpoor alleging that he committed four violations of the Export Administration Regulations.
10. CBP Airport and Seaport User Fee Committee to Meet

12. China Says it Will Ease Gov't Controls on Private Sector Investment
According to China's Embassy in the U.S., a top Chinese economic planner has announced that China will ease government controls this year to stimulate private-sector investment amid the economic slowdown. The government would narrow the scope of projects requiring approval "by the maximum extent," and the power of approval will also be transferred to lower government levels to spur private investment. 13. Guangdong Province to Hold Trade Fair for Foreign-Invested Firms
China's Guangdong Province will host a trade fair from June 18 to 20, 2009 to help foreign-funded businesses cope with the economic downturn. The fair, the first of its kind, will provide about 2,500 booths free for businesses selling appliances, consumer electronics, toys, food, kitchen wares, clothes, and construction materials. 14. Canada's Dept. of Environment Posts Notice on Methyl Bromide Use
Canada's Department of the Environment has posted a notice in the May 23, 2009 Canada Gazette announcing that persons seeking to engage in the use of methyl bromide in Canada are invited to submit to Environment Canada, prior to July 29, 2009, and through the process described in an annex to its notice, their application under the Montreal Protocol for a critical use exemption for the years 2011 and 2012. The use of methyl bromide present in Canada before the phase-out date or the use of recycled or reclaimed methyl bromide does not require such an application.
