4. APHIS to Issue Permits for Imports of Guava from Mexico

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued a notice advising the public of its decision to begin issuing permits for the importation into the U.S. of fresh guava fruit from Mexico, effective October 14, 2008. 6. Trade Deficit Decreases in August 2008

According to the Census Bureau, the U.S.' international deficit in goods and services decreased to $59.1 billion in August from $61.3 billion (revised) in July 2008, as imports decreased more than exports. 8. CBP Accredits Four Companies as Commercial Gaugers and/or Laboratories

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued notices stating that it has accredited and approved the following companies as commercial gaugers and/or laboratories for petroleum and petroleum products, organic chemicals and vegetable oils, and to test petroleum and petroleum products for customs purposes, in accordance with 19 CFR 151.12 and/or 151.13, on the effective dates listed (see individual notice for dates of next triennial inspections):
