2. BIS is Creating an Emerging Technology Committee

The Bureau of Industry and Security is announcing the creation of and recruiting individuals for a technical advisory committee (the Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee (ETRAC)) that will review and provide recommendations to the Commerce Department on emerging technology and research issues. 3. BIS Regulations and Procedures TAC to Hold Partially Open Meeting

The Bureau of Industry and Security's Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee (RPTAC) will hold a partially closed meeting on June 10, 2008 in Washington, DC. The agenda for the open session includes an AES update, export enforcement update, etc. The open session will also be accessible via teleconference to 20 participants on a first come, first serve basis. 4. DIRECTV Makes Final Payment to ICE to Settle Hughes' Debt

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a press release announcing that The DIRECTV Group Inc., current owner of Hughes Electronic Corp., made the final payment to ICE from a 2003 $32 million settlement for violating the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) for providing certain technical data and defense services to the Chinese government without receiving permission from the State Department. 5. EC Proposes to Improve Safety, Environmental Performance of Vehicles

The European Commission has issued a press release announcing that it is making several proposals to improve the safety and environmental performance of vehicles. 6. China Anti-Corruption Conference to be Held July 15-16 in Shanghai

The American Conference Institute will be holding a conference entitled, "China Summit on Anti-Corruption: Implementing Effective Corporate Governance, Transparency and FCPA Compliance Programs" on July 15-16, 2008 in Shanghai, China for Trade Counsels, Ethics and Compliance Officers, and Compliance/Corporate Governance Directors, and other professionals. 7. DOT Grants Antitrust Immunity to Certain Airlines to Expand Alliance

The Department of Transportation has issued a press release announcing that it will grant antitrust immunity to Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines, and four of their international partners to combine their transatlantic operations in an expanded SkyTeam alliance. This allows the two U.S. carriers, along with Air France, Alitalia, Czech Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, to coordinate their transatlantic fares, services and capacity as if they were a single carrier in these markets, subject to certain conditions. 8. USDA Amends GSM-102 Credit Guarantee for Exports to Turkey

The Foreign Agricultural Service has issued a press release announcing that the U.S. Department of Agriculture amended the availability of the credit guarantees for sales of U.S. agricultural commodities under the Commodity Credit Corporation's Export Credit Guarantee Program (GSM-102) for fiscal year 2008 for Turkey to add $55 million to the guarantee. 9. APHIS Announces Availability of Foot-and-Mouth Risk Analysis

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is advising the public that it has prepared a risk analysis concerning the foot-and-mouth disease status of Surrey County, England, and the related disease risks associated with importing ruminants and swine and the fresh meat and other animal products of ruminants and swine from Surrey County, England.
