U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of May 27, 2008. This report includes TRQs on various products such as beef, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa products, tobacco, certain BFTA, DR-CAFTA, Israel FTA, JFTA, MFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs, etc. Each report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, BFTA, DR-CAFTA, CBTPA, Haitian HOPE, MFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TPLs and TRQs for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly TRQ/TPL commodity report available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/trade_programs/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)

2. TRQ/TPL "Threshold to Fill" List
CBP has posted TRQ/TPL "threshold to fill" list, a quick reference to monitor tariff rate quotas and tariff preference levels that are approaching the restraint limit or have filled the in-quota (low duty) rate. The list is divided into two sections - quotas that are at least 85% filled and quotas that are closed.

Updated ACE Ambassador locations list. CBP has posted an updated version of its ACE Ambassador Locations list. This document provides a current listing of the locations of ACE Ambassadors by Field Office and city. It also lists the number of ACE Ambassadors in each location. CBP San Diego launches smuggling operation. CBP reports that a 48-hour joint enforcement effort between the San Diego Sector Border Patrol and its strategic partners, dubbed "Operation Midnight," was recently launched to disrupt land and maritime smuggling operations originating from Mexico. FAQ on the Byrd Amendment. CBP posted a frequently asked questions document on the Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act (CDSOA) of 2000 (commonly referred to as the Byrd Amendment). The FAQ covers: preliminary accounts available to disburse, certification submission, statements, qualifying expenditures, repeal, etc. CBP has also posted CDSOA contact information and AD/CVD points of contact. CBP officials testify on dedicated front line personnel. CBP posted the testimony of several officials before the House Homeland Security Committee's Subcommittee on Border, Maritime and Global Counterterrorism regarding dedicated front line personnel. CBP designated to lead MDA people hub. Ribbon cutting at Indianapolis hiring center. CBP reports that on June 5, 2008 CBP will hold the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Indianapolis Hiring Center, which officially opens the Federal Operations Complex. CBP updates Congress on implementation of ESTA.
