February 20, 2008 CBP Bulletin Notice on the 41st Session of the WCO HSC

In the February 20, 2008 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (CBP Bulletin) (Vol. 42, No. 9), CBP issued a notice detailing the dates and draft agenda for the 41st Session of the Harmonized System Committee, which will meet in Brussels March 10 - 20, 2008.

(Among other things, the HSC (1) issues classification decisions on the interpretation of the Harmonized System in the form of published tariff classification opinions or amendments to the Explanatory Notes, and (2) considers amendments to the legal text of the Harmonized System.)

The draft list of agenda items includes (partial list):

Certain frozen chicken cuts classification. Amendments to the Compendium of Classification Opinions to reflect the classification of frozen chicken cuts with the addition of salt in subheading 0210.99;

Certain dried tea flowers classification. Amendments to the Compendium of Classification Opinions to reflect the classification of dried tea flowers in subheading 0902.20;

Certain canola oil classification. Amendments to the Compendium of Classification Opinions to reflect the classification of Canola oil flavored with chili pepper and black pepper in subheading 1517.90;

Certain milk protein classification. Amendments to the Compendium of Classification Opinions to reflect the classification of milk protein (product 2) in heading 35.04;

Certain soccer jersey classification. Amendments to the Compendium of Classification Opinions to reflect the classification of "soccer goalkeeper jersey" in heading 6110;

Certain paintball pants classification. Amendments to the Compendium of Classification Opinions to reflect the classification of "paintball pants" in Chapter 62;

Explanatory Notes. Amendments and possible amendments to certain Explanatory Notes.

Certain hauler vehicles. Study on the classification of vehicles by the name "Jacobsen Model 1100 and 1110 Haulers."

Certain methanol/ethanol mixtures. Study on the classification of certain methanol or ethanol mixtures with gasoline.

Scope studies. Studies on the scope of headings 22.06 and 22.08, and of Note 1 to Chapter 25.
