CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has upgraded its CBP.gov homepage. According to a CBP news release on the upgrade, this is the first in a series of upgrades designed to provide a modernized, user-friendly Web site. The new homepage features more and larger photos, a rotating news ticker and streamlined layout. Future upgrades will simplify the navigation structure and improve users' experience with second level feature pages. 1. CBP Updates its Home Page, Launches "Quicklinks" Web Page

CBP has also launched a new Web page on its Web site entitled, "CBP.gov Quicklinks." The Quicklinks page provides links to CBP programs and topics' Web pages, such as: Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS), the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), Custom-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), etc.

2. ACE "Topic" Document: ACE Secure Data Portal Initial Account Access

CBP has posted an ACE "Topic" document entitled "ACE Initial Account Access," which provides information on how to access an ACE Secure Data Portal account for the first time and password information. Specifically, the document covers account creation, password retrieval, the initial ACE Secure Data Portal login process, creating and changing a password, and how to handle login failures. CBP implemented ACE Help Desk enhancements. CBP has posted a notice announcing that recent ACE Help Desk operational enhancements have resulted in shortened call wait times, fewer incoming calls and more efficient routing of callers to the appropriate level of support. SENTRI participant arrested for human smuggling attempt. CBP has issued a news release announcing that Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) program participant was arrested by CBP officers at the Otay Mesa port of entry after they found an undocumented migrant hidden in the car the participant was driving. CBP reminder on end of accepting oral declarations. CBP has posted a document reminding the public that as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), effective January 31, 2008, oral declarations will no longer be satisfactory as evidence of citizenship and identity for U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 19 and older entering the U.S. at land or sea ports of entry. CBP adds third unmanned aircraft system to inventory. CBP has posted a notice announcing that CBP Air and Marine (A&M) has accepted delivery of CBP 110, the third Predator B in the A&M inventory. A&M now has three Predator B's assigned to the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Operations Center. CBP 110 will operate on the southwest border until it is deployed to Grand Forks, ND for Northern Border operations in spring 2008.
