The U.S. Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel has issued a Textile Development Memo on the House of Representatives' passage of H.R. 3890, the Block Burmese JADE (Junta's Anti-Democratic Efforts) Act of 2007 on December 11, 2007. American Shipper reports that a recent survey by Trade Bridge International revealed that many small and medium-sized importers do not see the value of joining U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program. 3. Senate Expected to Remove Questionable Customs Brokers Provisions of CPSC Reform Act

The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) reports that following a large outcry from customs brokers, the Senate sponsors of the consumer product safety reform legislation are expected to remove certain questionable provisions of their bill dealing with customs brokers. 4. FAS Reports on Japan's Pet Food Guidelines, Export Certificates for the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia

The Foreign Agricultural Service has issued three attach reports which respectively state that (1) Japan is currently in the process of crafting guidelines on pet food health claims and the first regulation governing pet food safety; (2) the Netherlands has released an annual report which lists the required export certificates for exports to the Netherlands, which are not yet EU harmonized; and (3) Saudi Arabia has released an annual report listing and describing certificates that should accompany all food and agricultural product imports into Saudi Arabia.
