2. E. African Countries to Replace EU Preferences with new Trade Agreement

BBC News reports that Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Rwanda of the East African Community will open up their markets to the European Union as a result of a new trade agreement replacing EU preferential trade obligations due to expire in December 2007. 3. South Korean Parliament Expected to Ratify U.S.-Korea FTA by February

4. CAFC Corrects Ruling on the Protest of a Bulletin Notice of Liquidation

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has issued an Errata which corrects two errors in its decision Samuel Aaron, Inc. vs. U.S. As a result, the date in the third line of the fifth paragraph of BP's summary of the CAFC's decision should read April 30, 1999 (not April 30, 1998). 5. CBP Columbus Pipeline on Modification of PEAs, Termination of SILs

U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Port of Columbus has issued a Pipeline regarding CBP's modification of the Post-Entry Amendment Processing test and the termination of the Supplementary Information Letter program. Among other things, the Pipeline provides information on single PEAs and the quarterly tracking report. 6. FSIS Updates Its Export Requirements for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan

The Food Safety and Inspection Service has updated its export requirements for the following countries/economies: Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Japan (egg products). 7. USDA Grants Protection to 15 New Plant Varieties

The Agricultural Marketing Service has issued a press release announcing that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued certificates of protection to developers of 15 new varieties of seed-reproduced and tuber-propagated plants, including barley, cotton, cowpea, fescue, orchardgrass, pea, potato and soybean. AMS states that owners will have the exclusive right to reproduce, sell, import and export their products in the U.S. for the duration of protection.
