2. FDA Direct Final Rule to Remove Essential Use Designations for Substances Used in Certain Inhalers
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a direct final rule, effective April 23, 2007 (except for a certain provision effective August 1, 2007), amending 21 CFR Part 2 to remove the essential use designations for beclomethasone, dexamethasone, fluticasone, bitolterol, salmeterol, ergotamine tartrate, and ipratropium bromide used in oral pressurized metered-dose inhalers. FDA notes that none of these products is currently being marketed. Written or electronic comments are due on or before February 20, 2007. 3. OFAC Unblocks Property of Three Individuals Under Narcotics Sanctions
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a notice publishing the names of three individuals whose property and interests in property have been unblocked pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 12978 and whose names have been removed from the list of Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers on November 28, 2006.
