The World Customs Organization (WCO) has announced that it will hold a conference entitled, Launch of the WCO Harmonized System 2007, September 26-27, 2006 in Brussels Belgium. According to WCO, the purpose of this conference is to explore the HS and the major amendments contained in its latest version, which will be implemented from January 1, 2007. This event is aimed at Customs administrations, international organizations, the business community, economic operators, and others who have a stake in global trade issues. 2. BIS Transportation and Related Equipment TAC to Hold Open Meeting

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has announced a meeting of the Transportation and Related Equipment Technical Advisory Committee on September 13, 2006, in Washington, DC. The meeting's agenda will include, among other things, policy and regulatory overview, the Missile Technology Control Regime, and reports on working groups. The meeting will be open to the public and a limited number of seats will be available. Reservations are not accepted. 3. ITA Now Accepting Applications for the International Buyer Program

The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice on the International Buyer Program for the period January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008, and states that trade show applications must be received by 5 p.m. on November 6, 2006. According to the ITA, this program brings international buyers together with U.S. firms by promoting U.S. trade shows in industries with high export potential.
