2. DHS Fact Sheet on Protecting U.S. Borders

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a fact sheet entitled, Securing Our Nation's Borders, concerning the Security Border Initiative and other efforts to strengthen U.S. security along the northern and southern borders. 4. Commerce Proposes to Establish Procedures for Importation of Supplies for Emergency Relief Free of AD and CV Duties

The Commerce Department has issued a press release announcing that Commerce Secretary Gutierrez has announced a proposed regulation that would allow the Commerce Department to temporarily suspend the collection of antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CV) duties on imports of supplies used in emergency relief work in areas where the President has declared a state of emergency. 5. OFAC Publishes Updated Information on 22 Persons Whose Property and Interests are Blocked by EO 13224

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has published updated information on the names of twenty-two individuals whose property and interests are blocked pursuant to Executive Order 13224 of September 23, 2001, "Blocking Property and Prohibiting Transactions with Persons Who Commit, Threaten To Commit, or Support Terrorism." The update is effective July 27, 2006.
