2. BIS Denies Certain Export Privileges for Activities Involving Export Without License
The BIS has issued an Order denying certain export privileges for a period of ten years from the date of his conviction to Asher Karni, a federal inmate, for activities involving the export of two oscilloscopes and triggered spark gaps to Pakistan via South Africa without the required export licenses from the Department of Commerce. The Order also denies certain export privileges for a period of ten years to Parkland PME Corporation and Humayun Kahn, as the BIS believes these entities are related to Karni. 3. BIS Denies Certain Export Privileges for Activities Involving Export Without License
The BIS has issued an Order denying certain export privileges for a period of twenty years to Terry Tengfang Li for activities involving the export of electronic components subject to the EAR to China, without the required export licenses from the DoC. 4. President Continues National Emergency Regarding Export Control Regulations
The White House has issued a press release announcing that on August 3, 2006 the President extended for one year the national emergency declared in Executive Order (EO) 13222 when the Export Administration Act of 1979, as amended, expired. 5. FDA Posts Various Notices to its Web Site
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted the following notices to its Web site:
Consumers advised to avoid raw oysters from the Pacific Northwest. FDA has posted to its Web site an announcement advising consumers to avoid eating raw oysters harvested in the Pacific Northwest as a result of increased reports of illnesses associated with the naturally occurring bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus (Vp) in oysters harvested from the area. FDA posts document on fresh and frozen seafood. SPPA First Year Status Report posted. FDA has posted to its Web site the Strategic Partnership Program Agroterrorism (SPPA) Initiative's First Year Status Report: September 2005 - June 2006. The FDA has previously explained that SPPA is an initiative among federal and state government agencies and private sector volunteers to provide government and industry with a more complete sector-wide perspective of food and agriculture defense.
