OFAC Issues Updated List of Specially Designated Nationals, Blocked Persons, Etc.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is amending, effective June 27, 2006, Appendix A to 31 CFR Chapter V in order to provide an updated list of persons identified in OFAC's Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List as of June 26, 2006, etc.

(Appendix A to 31 CFR Chapter V contains the names of blocked persons, specially designated nationals, specially designated terrorists, specially designated global terrorists, foreign terrorist organizations, and specially designated narcotics traffickers designated pursuant to various economic sanctions programs administered by OFAC.)

Revised List Updated as of June 26, 2006, Etc.

Specifically, this June 26, 2006 update reflects the addition or removal from Appendix A, since it was last published, of the names of individuals and entities subject to the various economic sanctions programs administered by OFAC and provides updated identifying and clarifying information for certain individuals and entities included in the Appendix. OFAC also is amending the Notes to the Appendices to 31 CFR chapter V to reflect the revisions to Appendix A and changes in the status of several programs.

Updated Information on OFAC's Designations is Available on OFAC Web site

Note 7 to the appendices to chapter V of Title 31 of the CFR states, in relevant part, that frequently updated information on OFAC designations is provided for examination or downloading on OFAC's Internet site (http://www.treas.gov/ofac). Among other data, the Web site posts changes in designations and identifying information, and provides country-by-country lists of names.

OFAC states that updated information on OFAC designations should be consulted before engaging in transactions subject to the economic sanctions programs in Chapter V.
