The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a notice announcing that it has requested WTO consultations with Canada concerning its provisional antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CV) duties on imports of unprocessed grain corn from the U.S. In its notice, the USTR requested comments on or before May 12, 2006. However, USTR sources note that since this request for consultations was made, Canada has issued final AD and CV negative injury findings. As such, these sources do not expect the U.S. to pursue the case further as Canada has agreed to revoke the provisional duties and refund any duties paid. (See ITT' Online Archives or 04121/06 news, 06042199 4, for BP summary of Canada's negative AD and CV findings.)
