CBP Reminder That Periodic Monthly Statements Can be Settled by Either ACH Debit or Credit
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an ABI administrative message reminding filers that periodic monthly statements (PMS) can be settled by either Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) debit or credit.

Money must be posted by 15th working day of month when ACH credit is used to settle a PMS. CBP states that when ACH credit is used to settle a PMS, the money must be posted to the CBP account by the 15th working day of the month that the PMS is due in order for the payment to be considered timely.
(On January 20, 2006, CBP published a notice announcing that ACH credit participants did not have to initiate payment earlier than the 15th working day of the month.
Prior to this change, CBP had stated that ACH credit participants had to initiate payment no later than the 14th working day of the month.
In its January 20, 2006 notice, CBP noted that it must still receive the settlement for the credit by the 15th working day in order to have the PMS marked paid and treated as a timely payment.
