USTR Amends Deadline for Comments on Compliance With Telecommunications Trade Agreements
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a correction to its November 16, 2005 notice requesting comments for its annual review of the operation and effectiveness of all U.S. trade agreements regarding U.S. telecommunications products and services that are in force with respect to the U.S.

The USTR now states that the comment deadline for this review is noon on December 16, 2005 (rather than noon on December 9, 2005). The USTR adds that reply comments are due by noon on January 13, 2006 (rather than January 9, 2006).
For this review, the USTR is seeking comments on whether (partial list):
any World Trade Organization (WTO) member is acting in a manner that is inconsistent with its commitments under WTO agreements affecting market opportunities for telecommunications products and services (e.g., the WTO General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), including the Annex on Telecommunications and any scheduled commitments including the Reference Paper on Pro-Competitive Regulatory Principles;
Canada or Mexico has failed to comply with their telecommunications commitments or obligations under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA);
The USTR has previously stated that this review will be concluded by March 31, 2006.
