The Wall Street Journal reports that U.S.-China textile talks could resume in Beijing this week. According to the article, a person close to the U.S. textile negotiation team said exact dates have not been fixed for the coming round of talks, but said they would likely occur October 14-15, 2005. 2. FDA to Hold Public Workshop on Device Regulations in Philadelphia
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a notice announcing that on October 11-12, 2005, it will host a workshop in Philadelphia, PA on its device regulations. According to the FDA, this workshop is for start-up and small device manufacturers and their suppliers. 3. FSIS Adds San Marino to List of Countries Eligible to Export Meat Products

4. AMS Seeks Comments on Proposal to Revise Asparagus Grade Standards
The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued a notice seeking comments on its proposal to revise the U.S. Standards of Grades of Fresh Asparagus. According to AMS, the proposed revision will allow purple or white asparagus to be certified to a U.S. grade. Comments must be received by December 5, 2005. 5. Federal Register Publication of CITA Notices Extending Period for Making Safeguard Decisions on China Cats 222, 345/645/646, 350/650, and 447
The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) has published in the Federal Register separate notices further extending, until November 30, 2005, the period for making its determinations on whether to impose safeguard quotas on China categories 222, 345/645/646, 350/650 and/or 447. 6. Federal Register Publication of FMC's NVOCC NOI Extension of Comment Period
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) has published in the Federal Register a notice of its decision to extend the comment period for a notice of inquiry (NOI) on whether to allow unaffiliated non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs) to jointly offer NVOCC Service Arrangements (NSAs). In response to a Department of Justice request, the FMC is extending the comment period to October 20, 2005 (from October 6, 2005). 7. BIS Order Denies Certain Export Privileges due to Unlicensed Export of Fingerprint Imaging Equipment
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has published its order regarding a settlement agreement it has reached with respect to BIS' charges that John H.
