U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of June 20, 2005. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, UAFTA and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly quota commodity report, dated 06/20/05, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)

ACE Accomplishments 1999-2005. CBP has compiled a list of Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) accomplishments for the 1999-2005 period. For example, in 2005, one of the ACE accomplishments listed is the March 28, 2005 addition of additional capabilities to Targeting Framework prototype at the National Targeting Center (NTC) which included Cargo Sweep for Inbound, which provides a risk rating for cargo coming into the U.S. on ships and Cargo Sweep for Outbound, which provides a risk rating for cargo being exported out of the U.S. on ships. CBP completes first regional installation of nationwide trade processing system in Western Washington. CBP has issued a press release stating that with the successful deployment of the ACE trade processing system at Oroville, WA during the week of June 13, 2005, CBP announced the completion of ACE installations at ports in western Washington. According to the press release, in the next few months, ACE is scheduled to be deployed at ports near select hub cities, including Douglas, AZ and Detroit, MI. Revised AES Commodity Data Transaction Proprietary Formats and AESTIR Appendix A. Effective June 12, 2005, the Automated Export System Trade Interface Requirements (AESTIR) were amended to add new text to the Automated Export System (AES) Commodity Data Transaction Proprietary Formats- Commodity Shipment Responses Useage Notes, Parts B and C and to add two new response codes to AESTIR Appendix A (Commodity Filing Response Messages). U.S. and Canada work toward safe and secure borders. CBP has issued a press release announcing that on June 15, 2005, CBP Commissioner Bonner met with the Canada Border Services Agency President for the U.S.-Canada Shared Border Accord Coordination Committee meeting. According to the press release, topics discussed included the World Customs Organization Framework of Standards; the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative; the Border Measurement and Harmonization of Standards; the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program, and NEXUS. CBP Commissioner urges support for standards to secure global trade. CBP has issued a press release announcing that CBP Commissioner Bonner will be heading to Brussels, Belgium to urge the members of the World Customs Organization (WCO) to adopt the WCO Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade. According to the press release, at next week's WCO Council Session, the 166 WCO members will decide whether to adopt the Framework of Standards.
