Douglas, AZ Cluster to be Next Launch of ACE Release 4 (Truck Manifest), Etc
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site the May 2005 issue of its U.S. Customs and Border Protection Modernization newsletter which discusses, among other things, the continuing deployment of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Release 4 (Truck Manifest).

Blaine pilot completed April 14; other western Washington ports have been launched. According to CBP, with the successful completion of the pilot in Blaine, WA, ACE Release 4 (Truck Manifest) was launched in late April 2005 at the western Washington ports of Sumas, Lynden, and Point Roberts. According to CBP, Oroville, WA will come on board in early June 2005.
Next deployment to occur in July 2005 in Douglas, AZ cluster. CBP states that in July 2005, five ports in the Douglas, AZ cluster will be deployed, including Naco, Lukeville, Sasabe, and Nogales, AZ.
In coming months, deployment to occur in clusters at ports in VT, ND, and MI, etc. In the next few months, ACE Release 4 (Truck Manifest) is scheduled to be deployed in geographic clusters at ports near the following hub cities: Highgate Springs, VT; Pembina, ND; and Detroit, MI. CBP continues to state that its goal is to transition 91 land border ports to ACE Truck Manifest in 2006.
System-wide ACE Portal enhancements launched in late May 2005. According to CBP, new system-wide enhancements to the ACE Secure Data Portal were scheduled to be launched in late May 2005 to improve portal navigation; expand editing ability for periodic payment statements; enhance account list performance; update manifest equipment changes; automate identifying Standard Carrier Alpha Codes (SCACs); enhance the Audit Login System (ALS) information loads and reports; improve code translation support; enhance Automated Targeting System (ATS) scoring capability; and add new National Crime Information Center (NCIC) availability messages.
C-TPAT members will bring total number of ACE accounts to over 2,000. CBP states that there are currently more than 500 ACE accounts and nearly 4,000 CBP and trade community users. Accounts are being established for members of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), which will bring the total number of accounts to more than 2,000.
According to CBP, the C-TPAT members not already participating in ACE will receive a letter, which will provide instructions on how to apply to activate their access capability for the ACE Secure Data Portal.
