CBP Reported to Have Expanded ACE Truck Manifest to Ports in Western Washington, in Addition to Blaine

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site the April 2005 issue of its U.S. Customs and Border Protection Modernization newsletter which discusses, among other things, CBP's plans regarding the implementation of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Release 4 (Truck Manifest) at ports in western Washington.

(In its March 2005 Modernization newsletter, CBP announced its plan to roll out ACE Truck Manifest to ports in geographic clusters. CBP also stated that upon successful completion of the pilot in Blaine, ACE Truck Manifest would be implemented in neighboring ports. ACE Truck Manifest ongoing in Blaine.1 The ACE Truck Manifest in Blaine, which began in December 2004, is still ongoing.

ACE Truck Manifest being 'rolled out' to other ports in western Washington.1 Trade sources indicate that the ACE Truck Manifest was recently rolled out to the western Washington ports of Sumas, Lynden, and Point Roberts. Sources indicate that these ports are part of the 'Blaine cluster,' and that ACE Truck Manifest is expected to be rolled out to other ports in this cluster.

After western Washington, ACE Truck Manifest expected to be rolled out to port clusters in AZ, VT, TX, ND, and MI. CBP states that after western Washington, other clusters of port deployments are expected to be centered around Douglas, AZ; Highgate Springs/Alburg, VT; Eagle Pass, TX; Pembina, ND; and Detroit, MI.

Goal is to implement ACE Truck Manifest at 91 land border ports by end of 2006. CBP states that the goal is to complete ACE Truck Manifest transitions at 91 land border ports by the end of 2006.
