House Ways and Means Committee Announces Hearing on CAFTA-DR Implementation

The House Ways and Means Committee has issued an advisory stating that it will hold a hearing on implementation of the U.S.-Dominican Republic-Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) on April 21, 2005.

According to the advisory, the hearing will examine the benefits that the agreement will bring to American businesses, farmers, workers, consumers and the U.S. economy.

The advisory states that oral testimony at the CAFTA-DR hearing will be from both invited and public witnesses, and witnesses are expected to include Ambassador Peter F. Allgeier, acting U.S. Trade Representative. Requests to be heard at the hearing must be made no later than the close of business on April 12, 2005.

Written statements may be submitted in lieu of a personal appearance at the hearing by the close of business on April, 26 2005. Any person(s) and/or organization(s) wishing to submit such statements for the hearing record must follow the appropriate link on the hearing Web page (see below) and complete the informational forms.

Senate Finance Committee Reschedules its CAFTA-DR Hearing

The Senate Finance Committee has issued a press release announcing that its hearing on CAFTA-DR has been rescheduled from April 6, 2005 to April 13, 2005.
