CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an ABI administrative message stating that in Adm: 05-0018, which listed the ABI system requirements for filing U.S.-Australia Free Trade Agreement (UAFTA) claims, CBP had erroneously indicated that the Special Program Indicator (SPI) in record identifier 50 is located in positions 79-80. However, CBP states that the SPI in record identifier 50 is actually located in positions 78-79. (See ITT's Online Archives or 01/07/05 news, 05010715, for BP summary of Adm: 05-0018.) CBP has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that its most recent Harmonized System (HS) update (No. 0502) contains:
Changes required by the verification of the 2005 Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). (CBP notes that it will continue to verify the 2005 HTS for the remainder of the year).
Changes to the other government agency (OGA) flags on the tariff file.
CBP states that updated records are currently available to all ABI participants and can be retrieved electronically via the procedures indicated in the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements (CATAIR). 3. Weekly Quota Commodity Report as of February 14, 2005
CBP has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of February 14, 2005. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, UAFTA and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc.
This weekly quota commodity report now includes the U.S.-Australia Free Trade Agreement (UAFTA). (CBP sources previously stated that once ABI programming was complete and UAFTA claims could be made via ABI, the UAFTA would be added to this weekly quota commodity report. See ITT's Online Archives or 02/10/05 news, 05021005, for BP summary of CBP's message announcing that UAFTA claims could be filed via ABI effective February 9, 2005.)
