CBP Plans to Resume ACE Release 4 Truck Manifest Pilot in Blaine, WA on January 31, 2005
U.S. Customs and Border Protections' January 2005 Modernization newsletter states that after a temporary suspension to install software upgrades, on January 31, 2005, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) plans to resuming its ACE Release 4 Truck Manifest Pilot in Blaine, Washington.

The pilot, which began on December 12, 2004, was shutdown on January 3, 2005. (See ITT's Online Archives or 01/05/05 news, 05010505 for BP summary of Blaine Port notice of shutdown.)
Regarding the pilot, one CBP officer stated that, "it was exciting to see the manifest fields pop up, to have all the commodity information, license tag, trailer descriptions, and commodity quantity fields all in one screen.
A general manager of a trucking company added "it's in a test mode and the software still needs some fine tuning, but right now it is great for a carrier who has simple manifests. It is usable. It is fast. It is accurate. "
(Blaine, WA is the first port to pilot ACE Release 4 Truck Manifest. CBP has previously stated that up to seven ports are projected to receive ACE Release 4 Truck Manifest, including the ports of Buffalo and Champlain, NY; Detroit and Port Huron, MI; Laredo, TX; and Otay Mesa, CA.
