U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the 2005 tariff rate quota (TRQ) for qualifying ethyl alcohol from the Caribbean countries and Insular Possessions as provided for in HTS Chapter 99, Subchapter I.

1. 2005 TRQ on Ethyl Alcohol Opened January 3, 2005

According to CBP, the low duty TRQ opened under HTS 9901.00.50 for 240,400,000 gallons (aggregate) on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 12 noon EST, or its equivalent in other time zones.

CBP has issued a notice announcing that the 2005 tariff-rate quota (TRQ) on Italian-type cheese provided for in HTS Chapter 4, Additional U.S. Note (AUSN) 21 opened on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 12 p.m. E.S.T., or its equivalent in other time zones with the below-listed countries having the following low-duty quantities:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a notice announcing that the 2005 tariff-rate quota (TRQ) on cheddar cheese and cheese substitutes as provided for in HTS Chapter 4, Additional U.S. Note (AUSN) 18 opened on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 12:00 E.S.T., or its equivalent in other time zones with the below-listed countries having the following low-duty quantities:

CBP states that the quota for cheddar cheese from Canada was expected to oversubscribe on opening day.

CBP states that of the quantitative limitations provided for in this note for the EC 25, Portugal shall have access to a quantity of not less than 353,000 kg. In addition, of the quantitative limitations provided for in this note for Israel, no more than 160,000 kg shall contain more than 3% by weight of butterfat.

The above nine cheese TRQ QBTs are the amended versions (each has an "01" suffix) of the nine original cheese TRQ QBTs issued in mid-December 2004.
